Wilma Crist Tunender

Wilma Crist Tunender, 78, of Malmo, NE, passed away on July 16, 2021 at her home. She was born August 30, 1942 at North Loup, Nebraska to Rolland and Marie Burke. Wilma grew up in Ainsworth, Nebraska and spent most of her life there. She was married to Richard Crist on September 12, 1958, on their ranch south of Ainsworth and added to this family 4 children: Randy, Becky, Teresa, and Mike. Richard and Wilma were married for 17 years. Wilma married Eugene Tunender on October 25, 1991 at Saunders County Courthouse in Wahoo, NE. They were married 30 years. Wilma loved her family - especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to the family cabin on the Missouri River and riding on the boat; and playing computer games. Wilma enjoyed going to parties and dances with Gene and having fun with her family. She liked traveling across the country with Gene. Wilma is survived by her husband Eugene Tunender of Malmo, NE, her children Randy Crist and wife Deb of Ceresco, NE, Becky Shinn and husband Terry of Wilber, NE, Terry Abuwisha and husband Abe of Grand Island NE, Mike Crist and wife Lisa of Lincoln NE; step-children Debbie Hamik and husband Bruce of Atkinson NE, and Daniel Tunender of Fremont NE; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren: Jaime Crist, Jennifer Hoepker, Sabrina Wiemer, Kyle Bovee, Aminah Abuwisha, Kiefer Crist, Audie Crist, Jasper Hoepker, Nora Wiemer, Rylan Birkby, Jesse Crist, Mark Painter, Jayden Hewitt, Tony Huston, Bryce Huston, Abbie Tunender, Isaac Tunender, Daniel Tunender, Chelsey Shutt, Liam Huston, Mason Huston, Knight Curtis and Kyle Painter. Wilma will be missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and caregivers. She was preceded in death by grandparents Pete and Louise Smith; parents Rolland and Marie Burke; sister Ethel Wilkening; brothers Gerald, Harold, and Donny Burke; first husband Richard Crist; grandsons Kalvin Crist, Jeremy Crist, and Billy “Joe” Lamb. Visitation will be Tuesday July 20, 5-7 pm at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home 911 N Linden Street in Wahoo, NE. Funeral service will take place at 6 pm with Pastor Scott Jensen officiating. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, July 22 at the Ainsworth Zion Lutheran Church 318 E 4th in Ainsworth, NE. Pastor George Williams will be officiating. Visitation will begin 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral at the Ainsworth Cemetery located 2 miles south on South Pine Street. Serving as casket bearers will be Jesse Crist, Kyle Painter, Alex Hoepker, Dylan Wiemer, Clint Kaup and Tim Painter. Jeff Dittmer, Jayden Hewitt, Mark Painter, Kyle Bovee, Kurt Stenka and Bill Worden will be Honorary Casket Bearers.
