William (Bill) Jackson

William (Bill) Jackson, a lifelong Wahoo resident, died Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 5 days. He was born October 16, 1930 in Omaha to Leon and Ruby (Wagner) Jackson. He grew up in Wahoo and graduated from Wahoo High School. Bill married Adele Banghart on November 24, 1948. They raised three daughters. He enjoyed sports, and was a longtime and faithful member of the Gray Hairs, now known as the Golden Warriors. Bill served in the National Guard and was a longtime member of the Wahoo Volunteer Fire Department. As an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo, Bill served as a Deacon and gave his time and talent for many years caring for the church lawn. He also stayed busy tending his yard at home. Bill was a talented woodworker. He was a member of Hilltop Country Club and enjoyed playing golf. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Paula Bleeker, an infant son, and his parents. He is survived by his wife Adele of Wahoo; daughters Diane Tillman and Linda (Doug) Bordovsky of Wahoo; grandchildren Mikayla (Seth) Smart of Wahoo, Molly Tillman of Seattle, WA, Chris Bordovsky (friend Jennifer Wesely) of Wahoo, Kathryn Haynie of Cozad, Mikki (Brent) Lund of Onalaska, WI, Mackenzie Tillman (friend Jarod Champoux) of Fort Collins, CO and Paul Bordovsky (friend Melissa Plybon) of Wahoo; great-grandchildren Sidney, Caden and Addison Smart, Savannah, Jessie and Cheyenne Haynie; sisters Joyce Hasselbach of Lincoln and Marcia (Bob) Walter of Lincoln; brother Jim (Sandy) Jackson of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law Sharon (Darwin) Vermeline of Malmo; aunt Phyllis Wagner of Wahoo; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Casket bearers will be Mikayla Smart, Molly Tillman, Chris Bordovsky, Kathryn Haynie, Mikki Lund, Mackenzie Tillman, Paul Bordovsky, Brent Lund, and Seth Smart. Honorary casket bearers will be John Shanahan, Mick Anderson, Ray Johnson, Frank Ferrara, Larry Stuchlick, Jerry Likes, Orville Johnson, Lyle Torrens, and the Corner Market Coffee Group. Memorials are preferred and may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to Wahoo Public Schools.
