William T. Cox

William "Bill" Thomas Cox, was born October 4,1947 to Robert Roy Cox and Dora Walden Cox in Saint Edward, Nebraska. He entered into rest on January 18th, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Dora (Walden) Cox, stepfather Carl Tiemann, granddaughter Kasey Cox , daughter-in-law Tami Cox, and niece Angela Robinson. He is survived by his children; April, Warren, Keith and Jeff (Chelsea) Cox, of Nebraska, as well as 14 grandchildren. He was also survived by brother Robert (Tara) Cox, of Iowa, sisters Bonnie (Bill) Schauperl, of Missouri, and Beverly Newburn of Nebraska. Bill lived the first two years of his life in Saint Edward, Nebraska before his parents moved to Albion, Nebraska. In 1952, they relocated to Omaha, Nebraska. He spent the rest of his childhood in Omaha attending Omaha Public schools. In 1966, he married Connie Smith in a small ceremony at his parent's home. Bill and Connie moved to Indiana for a few years, to be near Bill's dad, but eventually returned to the Omaha area. After his divorce from Connie, he met and married Deanne Markle in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bill and Deanne moved to Nebraska City for a few years, in order for Deanne's daughter to attend the Nebraska School for the Blind. They later returned to Lincoln area. Bill and Deanne divorced in 1992 and Bill obtained full custody of his 8 year old son Jeff. Bill worked most of his life in the construction field. The last 30 years of his employment was with Sampson Construction Company. Bill was forced into retirement, at age 65, after developing health related issues. Bill was very proud of the various projects he had worked on around the city. Bill had open heart surgery in 2003. He also had multiple strokes and falls, which evenly required him to live in a skilled nursing facility. The last three years he had been a resident at Homestead Rehabilitation on 54th street in Lincoln, Nebraska.
