Walter R. Anderson

Walter R. Anderson Sr., age 88 of Wahoo, died Monday, December 14, 2015 near Colon, NE. He was born July 25, 1927 at Weston, NE to Arthur C. and Leah Marie (Furlong) Anderson. Walter had one of the most devoted dogs a person could ever want. His name was Whiskers. Everywhere Walter went, Whiskers was right there by his side. In his later years, Whiskers became blind and deaf and Walter had to face the painful task of putting Whiskers to sleep. Walter loved farming and would have worked longer but he had to retire because he was no longer able to physically handle his farming duties. One of Walter's fondest memories was that when he mowed the yard, his son would get his toy mower and walk alongside his dad making a trip around the yard every time Walter did. Walter would have loved to have been able to spend more time with his children. His advice to his family and friends is to take advantage of every minute of every day. Live life to the fullest. Love each other and life will go a lot smoother. Walter is survived by his children Carol Smith, Wahoo, Beverly Anderson, Wahoo, Walter Anderson Jr. (Amanda Danner), Fremont; sister Florence Rezac, Prague; step-daughter Loretta Ashby, Fremont; granddaughter Kimberly Luers, Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Earl Anderson and step-son Stonewall Smith.
