Thelma J. Stevens, age 82 of Wahoo, died Sunday, October 28, 2012 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo. Thelma was just a little bitty gal standing 4'8"� tops, but she was a mighty force to be reckoned with when she was mad. She was born June 21, 1930 in Webster City, IA to Theral and Elinor (Bonner) Crider. She was the oldest of 8 children. Thelma attended school in Brooklyn, IA and graduated in 1948. She married Doyle Milligan in 1948 and had three children, Pamella Milligan-Givens, Audrey Milligan-Sachs-Novak, and Edward Milligan. Thelma later met Marvin Stevens, and they were married August 16, 1957 in Big Piney, WY. They moved to Elkhorn, NE in 1958 where Thelma worked as a cook at several local restaurants. She also worked at Elkhorn Lanes, formerly Gateway Lanes. She then lived, for a time, in Cassville Missouri so she could be close to her sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Wayne Harrison. Thelma then moved to Iowa to be near here granddaughter Lorna Bennett and her family. She settled in Wahoo in 2005 where she lived at Westview Apartments until she moved to South Haven Living Center in August of this year. She was preceded in death by her parents Elinor and Theral Crider; husband Marvin Stevens; sister Judith Crider; brother Terry Crider; daughter Audrey Sachs-Novak; brothers-in-law Wayne Harrison and Dick Peterson; and sister-in-law Deborah Carden-Crider. Thelma is survived by her daughter Pam Milligan-Givens and son-in-law Danny Givens of Ithaca, NE; son Ed Milligan of Montezuma, IA; grandchildren Lorna Bennett of Ottumwa, IA, Brian (Nicole) Kays of Omaha, Becky (Justin) Van Dees of Iowa, Tammy Robinson of Wahoo, Rhonda Sachs, Jeffrey Sachs, Richard Sachs, and their families, all of South Dakota; Jason (Becky) Givens of Phoenix, AZ; sisters Lucille Peterson of Oregon, Marge Nickles of Iowa, Charlene Harrison of Missouri, Sheryl Parrish of Iowa; brother Chuck Crider of Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren Tristan Wassem, Brooke Billings-Etter, Erica Billings-Silvers, and Drew Billings, all of Iowa, Reagan and Beckham Kays of Omaha, Kylie, Kendra and Melanie Robinson of Wahoo; great-great-granddaughters Tala Etter and Leah Silvers; many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 pm Friday at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home with Funeral Celebrant Greg Nabity officiating. Visitation will begin Friday at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Donor's charity of choice. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
