Steven A. Ludi, age 69 of Wahoo, died Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home in Wahoo. He was born March 28, 1948 in Wahoo to Derrel and Adeline (Bruckner) Ludi. Steve graduated from Wahoo High School in 1966 and enrolled at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology in 1970. He spent six years living in Colorado, then returned to Wahoo where he worked at his parent's newspaper, Wahoo Newspaper, until the business was sold in 1986. He married Linda Hartsook on April 26, 1986 at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Steve was a member of the Heat and Frost Insulators Union from 1990 until 2011 when he retired from OPPD where he commuted daily to work at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Generating Station and the OPPD North Omaha Station. After retiring, Steve had more time to enjoy his hobby of home remodeling. He spent much of his free time renovating the house where he and Linda lived. He also enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with his family. The Ludi family vacationed one or two times each year throughout the United States, both alone and with friends, and traveled to many countries throughout the world. Steve regularly attended his children's sporting events and other activities, and he looked forward to neighborhood block parties and pool parties. Several years ago, Steve and his son Chris began restoring Linda's 1965 Mustang but quickly realized they needed professional help with the restoration. Steve and his daughter Danielle recently spent an entire summer working together to transfer their backyard into a beautiful garden oasis. He was devoted to his mother and visited her daily. Steve always found great joy in the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his wife Linda Ludi of Wahoo; daughter Danielle Ludi (fiancé Bobby Ficenec) of Wahoo; son Chris Ludi (Pia Weis) of Berlin, Germany; mother Addie Ludi of Wahoo; nephew Guy Bechtold of Lincoln; mother-in-law Stacia Hartsook of Wahoo; and many cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father Derrel Ludi, brother Kevin Ludi and father-in-law Harvey Hartsook. Memorials may be made to the Ludi family for a later designation.
