Sonya J Helzer

Sonya Jean Helzer, 63, of Wahoo passed away November 26, 2016 at Saunders Medical Center. She was born April 6, 1953 in Hastings, Nebraska to Conrad and Verna (Yost) Helzer. She had fond and plentiful memories of spending time on her grandparents' farm near Harvard, NE as a child. She attended Harvard Public Schools and Central Community College. Sonya worked in a variety of places – most notably the City of Harvard, Nebraska and, most recently, the Wahoo Baker. Sonya was an artist of many mediums – from wood-working to decorating to fine pastries. She was a creative and imaginative lady. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, collecting antiques, spending time with her grandkids, being in the mountains, and lighthouses. She is survived by her children Kim (Rick) Kimminau of Colville, WA, Debbi (Greg) Kavan of Wahoo, Josh Helzer of Annapolis, MD; sisters Diane (Tom) Brenneman of Harvard, Connie (Dolan) Peterson of Juniata, Marsha Robertson of Harvard, Roxie Helzer of Harvard; grandchildren Sarah Kimminau of Collville, WA, and Sam, Will, and Eli Kavan of Wahoo; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sonya was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Terry Robertson.
