Shirley Joanne Williams

Shirley Joanne Williams, age 87 passed in peaceful grace June 11, 2023 in Wahoo. She was born November 7, 1935, the youngest of 5 daughters, to Faye Valentine Johnson and Marguerite Elizabeth (Steller) Johnson. She graduated from Tech High School in Omaha in 1953. After graduation she began a 20 year marriage to Robert Carl Nielson. Together they had a daughter, Angela Faye who died in infancy and two sons, Scott Carl and Mark Robert. Shirley married Kirk David Williams May 25, 1979 and helped him to raise his 3 sons. They remained married for forty years until Kirk died October 29, 2020. She is survived by her sons Robert Evans (Terry) Williams, David Tolar Williams, Daniel Owen (Gina) Williams all of New York, Scott Carl (Jacqueline) Nielson of Wahoo, Mark Robert (Michelle) Nielson; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren; countless family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; and sisters Elinor, Evelyn, Betty, and Patricia.


Memorial Services will be at 11 am, June 28, at Celebration Covenant Church, 16868 Giles Road in Omaha. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube. Interment will be in the Omaha National Cemetery. Memorials are directed to Celebration Covenant Church.
