Roger A. Haynes, Sr.

Roger A. Haynes, Sr., age 59, of Wahoo, died November 30, 2020 at his home in Wahoo. He was born August 28, 1961 in Prestonville, KY to Harold and Betty (Groves) Haynes. The family moved to Omaha when Roger was a young boy. He attended school in Omaha until enlisting in the United States Army. After finishing his military service, he met his first wife, Susan Masters. Jennifer, Justin and Roger, Jr. were born to this union. Following the end of this marriage, Roger met and married Tonda Bearinger Cleveland who had three children from a previous marriage, Tamela, Scott, and Michelle. Roger and Tonda lived in O’Neill, Council Bluffs and Omaha. They finally put down roots in Wahoo. Roger worked at Home Depot, Casey’s and Wahoo One Stop before illness made it hard to continue working beyond July, 2020. Roger enjoyed watching Pittsburg Steelers and Oklahoma Sooners. Sunday mornings were spent with Tonda watching Pastor on television, and NASCAR in the afternoon. After the Cornhuskers left the Big 12, Tammy and Roger no longer go to fight over the Sooners and Huskers. Roger enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. His favorite holidays were the 4th of July with the fireworks, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Roger gave his heart to the Lord and, in his final days, said he was ready to “Go Home.” He is survived by his wife Tonda Haynes of Wahoo; children Jennifer Haynes of South Carolina, Justin Haynes of Minnesota, Roger Haynes, Jr. of Omaha, Tammy (Tim) Spangler of Prague, Scott Cleveland (Sonja Richardson) of Norfolk, NE, Michelle Cleveland (Brian Tibbens) of Wahoo; grandchildren Luke, Klint, Colton, Dalton, Preston, Brittany, Andrew, Habeah, Amar, and Myles; great-grandson Emerson; Siblings Thomas, Bobby, Mansfield, Donald, Candy, Mary, and Fredia. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother Billy; great-grandson Wiley, great-granddaughter Alexa Brittain-Cleveland; daughter Rebecca Cleveland; and son Gerald Haynes. Visitation will be held Friday, 5-7 pm, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Saturday, 2 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
