Robert C. “Chris” Knudsen, 63, of Mead, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2025. Chris was born October 12, 1961, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Earl H. “Bud” and Eileen E. (Lohr) Knudsen. He was baptized at St. Robert’s Catholic Church and attended St. Robert’s Catholic School through eighth grade. He continued his education at Roncalli High School through tenth grade and graduated from West Harrison High School in Mondamin, Iowa, in 1980 where he played football. Chris lived in Omaha until 1978 before moving to Pisgah, Iowa.
Following high school, Chris served in the United States Coast Guard. Over his career, he worked in the mailroom at Omaha Public Schools, as a computer technician at Physicians Mutual of Omaha, and spent 18 years as a computer operator with Ensono. He also lived for 27 years in Loveland, Iowa
Chris married Katherine L. Schmidt on August 3, 2018, in Mead, Nebraska. An avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Chris loved mushroom hunting and fishing of all kinds, including deep sea fishing. He was also passionate about collecting Wizard of Oz memorabilia and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Halloween celebrations, bowling, playing cards, traveling to Florida, electronics, and grilling and smoking meats.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Knudsen; children from a previous Marriage Christopher (Tanya), Josh (Jodi), and Samantha (Nick) Howell and stepchildren Amber (Matt) Judah , April Marquez, Nicole Wallace, and Sarah Mahoney; Grandchildren, Kelly, Braydon, Calvin, Isabella, Charlie, Link, Helen, Merlin, Max and Crow Marquez, Jupiter Galloway, and Emily Mahoney; and brother William (Julie) Knudsen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo, Nebraska. A Celebration of Life will be held afterward at the Mead Town Hall.
