Regis T. Sampica, age 78, of Ithaca, Nebraska and formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his home. He was born August 6, 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest P. and Amanda White Sampica. Regis married Charlotte Ann Jones in April 1969 in Galena, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2001. Regis worked as a foreman in commercial construction for 30 years retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Marines from 1953-1956. Regis was passionate about his faith in God and eager to share that with everyone. He enjoyed watching old western movies, going for walks and fishing. Survivors include a daughter, Susannah (Kenneth) Prater of Ithaca, NE; a son, Karl Sampica Larsson of Evansdale; 4 grandchildren, Tylor Shull, Travis Olson, Elana Johnson and Megan Prater; 2 great granddaughters, Taylar Shull and Leah Peterson; 6 sisters, Joyce (Bob) McMurrin of Cedar Falls, Phyllis (John) Derifield of Waterloo, Marcia (Corky) Halverson of Evansdale, Gloria Juan of San Francisco, CA, Berniece Paul of Connecticut and Mary Sampica of Boise, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Ramona Olson; 4 brothers, Ken, David, Gerald and Bernard; and 4 sisters, Katherine Radolovich, Theresa Trusty, Pat Ruth Timmer and Grace Taylor. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel in Waterloo. Burial with full military honors by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138, Sullivan Brothers VFW Post 1623 and the U.S. Marine Corps. Honor Guard, will be in Poyner Township Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday and an hour prior to the services on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
