Norma Jean (Rood) Veskrna was born June 6, 1935 the third of 4 children to Henry L. and Vera (Watkins) Rood at Wahoo NE. She attended 1st grade at Dist. 37 and then moved to near Wahoo with family and attended District 64 through the 8th grade, graduating in 1952 from Wahoo High School. One summer she worked as a bookkeeper for Economy Housing and for 30 years for the County in the Extension Office. She retired in 1995. Norma married Donald Veskrna on October 30, 1955 and three sons were born to this union: Larry, Michael, and Daniel. They lived on a farm near Malmo for 2 years and for more than 50 years farmed near Wahoo Don and Norma moved into Wahoo in 2009. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Wahoo for more than 70 years. This ranked her as having the longest membership in the congregation. She served on Board of Trustees, Worship Committee, and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Saunders County Extension Club. She enjoyed many years reading, cross word puzzles, and being the family book keeper. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Norma took great pleasure in caring and playing with her grandchildren and hoped their memory of her would be of playing hide-and-seek, dolls, tractors, power rangers, and visiting the farm. She leaves her husband, Donald; sons and daughters-in-law Larry (Claudia) Veskrna of Wahoo, Michael (Natausha) Veskrna of Wahoo, and Daniel (Mary Jo) Veskrna of Blair; grandchildren Sydney (Doug) Flegle of Omaha, and Trevor Veskrna of Omaha; great-granddaughter Olivia Flegle; sisters-in-law Doris Rood of Wahoo, and Rosann Belik of Yutan; brother-in-law Larry Toombs of Lincoln; step-grandchildren Chris, Ryan, & Aaron Beasley, Dylan Caples, Trey & Nevaeh Jindra; cousins, nieces & nephews.
