Marcella Martha (Slavik) Humlicek, age 88, formerly of Prague, Nebraska died Monday, December 10, 2018 in Wahoo. Marcella was born on a farm near Bruno, Nebraska on September 13, 1930, to John and Clodie (Policky) Slavik. Times were tough on the farm during the thirties and the family moved to Seward where Marcella grew up and graduated from Seward High School in 1949. She worked at Bloomstrom Café in Seward. She met Bernard Humlicek at a dance in Bee, Nebraska. They were married four months later on January 5, 1955. Marcella worked hard on the farm alongside with Bernard farming, gardening, raising chickens, ducks and geese, and selling eggs to make extra money. She kept house, cooked and baked wonderful food and raised the children. Marcella was fairly active in the church helping out with festivals and Bazaars. In late 2007, Marcy and Bernard moved to David City to "retire." There they started a large garden to keep active. When Marcy started to slow down in 2015, after 60 years of marriage, together they moved to Wahoo to an assisted living facility. Marcy immersed herself in the community she built with the many friends she made while living there. She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in other activities. Her family and her faith were very important to Marcella. She attended Mass, read her Daily Devotions and prayed the Rosary regularly. She is survived by her children Julie (Lloyd) Beaner of Lincoln, Cathy (Steve) Urban of Lincoln, Linda (Bill) Brown of Clayton, DE, Anton (Michelle) Humlicek of Lincoln, Jerome Humlicek of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Denise Humlicek of Lincoln, grandchildren Christopher (Jamie) Beaner, Patrick Beaner, Kyle (Maegan) Urban, Makayla (Marcus) Harlow, Megan (Cory) Lindgren, Kirsten (Michael) Costello, Amanda and William Brown; great-grandchildren Madilyn Wright, Cooper and Ethan Lindgren; and many nieces and nephews. Marcella was preceded in death by her husband Bernard by just 16 days; parents; son Bernie; brother, Albin Slavik; sister Mary Weverka.
