Leland Koresky, age 82 of Malmo, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 in Wahoo. He was born May 30, 1933 at Sargeant Bluff, Iowa to Thurman and Irene (Young) Koresky. Lee served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged on May 7, 1955. Three months later, on August 20, 1955, he married Loretta Vaca in Lincoln. They made their home in Malmo where they raised their children and a plethora of critters of all kinds. Lee seemed to have the Midas Touch when it came to working with animals. Many wild animals, including raccoons, squirrels and coyotes. He once had a rooster that sat on his shoulder while he was doing chores. His most recent project was raising six miniature goats. Lee was an avid pitch player and rarely missed the winter pitch games at the Eagles on Saturdays. He was well known for his large garden which yielded plenty of produce for Lee and his family to share with friends. When he wasn't fishing, camping or watching Westerns on television, Lee spent his time reading and especially enjoyed the Western novels of Zane Grey and Louis L'Amour. Lee worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life including his uncle George Sherwood's horse stud farm, Saunders County Sheriff's Department as a Special Deputy, the Nebraska State Penitentiary as a Guard, Roberts Dairy driving bottled milk to small communities around the area, and as a grain hauler. He is survived by his daughters Cindy Brennenstuhl of Malmo, Rhonda Andersen of Waterloo; son-in-law Gene Andersen of Ashland; grandchildren Lee Anna Brennenstuhl of Lincoln, Chance Andersen of Ashland, and Zane Andersen of Ashland; cousins Eugene Giles of Lincoln, and and Les (Betty) Spies of Hudson, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rusty Lee Koresky, and grandson Wyatt Andersen. Memorials are preferred and may be given to the family for a later designation. Military funeral honors by Wahoo American Legion Post #82 and Wahoo VFW Post #4502. Honorary Casket Bearers are Kenny and Carol Meduna, John and Julie Vybiral, Wes and Michelle Cunningham, Mitch and Jeanie Snow, Elvin and Sharon Sillvan, Chris and Joanne Siminick.
