Lavonne (Bonnie) Sanders was reunited with her beloved husband and daughter in Heaven on September 27, 2023. She was born on January 10, 1930 to George and Dollie Phillips of Lyons. After graduation from Lyons High School in 1949, she worked in Omaha at Mutual of Omaha and modeled for several clothing stores. On November 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joyce Sanders. Three children, Kurt, Jacki and Joni were born to this union. They farmed for 50 years northwest of Oakland until retiring and moving to Wahoo in 2002. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church in Lyons. Her greatest joy was having her grandchildren for extended visits on the farm during the summer and weekends, spoiling them to the point of them not wanting to go home. After the passing of her husband in 2021, Bonnie moved to her daughter Joni’s farm north of Ceresco.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, daughter Jacki, her parents, and siblings: Shirley Phillips, Lill Buck, twins Robert Phillips and Roberta Hoagland, Barb Eden, and Gary Phillips. She is survived by her son Kurt (Sandy) Sanders of Fremont and daughter Joni (Paul) Pearson of Ceresco; grandchildren Kari Sanders of Lincoln, Kodi (Thom Klassen) Bonesteel of Lincoln, Taylor Sanders of Fremont, Madelyn Sanders of Omaha, Janae Pearson of Omaha; great-grandchildren Kade, Miya, Ella and Finn, all of Lincoln; sisters-in-law Roxann Phillips and Marlyce Rainey, both of Fremont. She will be missed by her granddogs Ollie, Dexter, Piper, Henry, Max and Murph.
Per Bonnie’s wishes, the family will conduct a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, all memorials will be donated to FurEver Home rescue in Fremont and SCLP rescue in Wahoo.
