Kay C. Koehler, age 86 of Wahoo, died Friday, July 5, 2024 in Wahoo. She was born January 10, 1938 in Belleville, Kansas, to Gerald and Rachel (Swan) Andrews. Kay graduated from high school in Louisville, Nebraska. In 1956, she married Donald Derby and was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Penny and Julie. Donald passed away in 1958. In 1976, Kay married Edwin Koehler and they eventually settled in Wahoo. Always an industrious worker, Kay held positions with the Nebraska Soil Conservation Service, Western Electric, Alpha Phi Sorority at UNL, and Dorsey Laboratory. Kay will be remembered for her many years as cook at the Wahoo Senior Diner, and at the counter of the Wahoo Bakery. She also volunteered as an election poll worker in Saunders County. Kay thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as traveling whenever she could.
Kay is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Penny and John States of Stella, NE, and Julie and John Vybiril of Wahoo, NE; brother Jerry Andrews of Lincoln; sister Joy (Dewey) Simmons of Lincoln; 8 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Donald Derby and Edwin Koehler; and brothers Ray Andrews and Eldon Hall.
Visitation is set for Monday, 5-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in care of the family.
