Julie Sperry

Julie Sperry was born July 2, 1968 in Wahoo. Her parents were Ralph and Betty (Nielsen) Sperry who resided in Malmo, Nebraska. In October 1969, at the age of 15 months, Julie was admitted into the Beatrice State Developmental Center. She remained there until September, 1972 when she began services with SCOMR (the Saunders County Office of Mental Retardation), now known as Region V Services. Julie entered the Wahoo Public School System in 1975 and graduated from Wahoo Public Schools in 1989. She began attending the Region V Day Service Program in the summer of 1989. Two of Julie's housemates have remained the same since 1982. Julie passed away at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Marie Nielsen and great-grandparents George and Ann Huddle. She is survived by family and friends at Region V Services. Casket Bearers will be Kal Lausterer, Bob Hajek, Rick Eggers, Darren Martin, Bill Rhynalds, and Jon Peterson. Honorary Casket Bearers are Cindy Ress, Liz Wagner, Sue Krause, Karen Michael and Delores Woodruff. Memorials are directed to Region V Services.
