VISITATION HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, JANUARY 19 FROM 4-7 PM
Jeanne Kay Siske, 75, of Ralston peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 12th, 2023. Jeanne was born on September 5th, 1947 to Richard (Mick) and Evelyn Weidman at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.
She was a 1965 graduate of Lincoln Northeast, then went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Nebraska in 1969 and Master's Degree in Education in 1972, also at UN-L.. Ron and Jeanne Siske wed on November 25th, 1972 and made Ralston their home. Jeanne taught first grade until the birth of their first child, a daughter, Nicole. After not surviving a necessary heart surgery, Nicole gained wings up to heaven at the tender age of 9 months.
Ron and Jeanne were then blessed with four boys, which Jeanne stayed home to raise. Being a mother to her boys gave Jeanne her greatest joy. She spent her days attending numerous sporting events, most often holding a Ziplock bag of homemade post-game cookies for the team.
She worked for Ralston Public Schools administering the substitution desk, an early adopter of a “work from home” job. For years she spent her evenings in the stands, as a dedicated coach’s wife, supporting athletic events or watching the Huskers, a strong family-time tradition. As her boys grew, she persisted to stay up to date on every detail of their lives. Jeanne simply wanted everyone to be alright and took care of the worrying for us all. She served as a paraprofessional at Brook Valley alternative school until she retired.
Retirement was filled supporting her sons’ generation of coaching and taking her grandchildren to the library, lessons, and trips to the cookie store or wherever she could get a unique treat, craft, or toy to bring on her next visit. A certain state basketball tournament with multiple sons coaching was a celebratory year, though bittersweet, as it was also when Jeanne’s fight against fallopian tube cancer started to progress. After seven years of appointments, surgeries, and battling illnesses, Jeanne was called up to her final home, no doubt welcomed by her parents, her sister, and baby Nicole.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Ron Siske; sons, Tony, Randy (Angie), Tommy (Trasi), Josh (Meg); grandchildren, Toryn, Trey, Tenyson, Jersey, Laney, Easton, Ricker, Brooks and Boston; sister, Wendy Robinson; her mother-in-law Alice Hendricks; niece and several nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mick and Evelyn Weidman; sister, Peg Albertson; father-in-law, Wilmoth (Rock) Siske, and daughter, Nicole.
