Jeanette O. Bennett

Jeanette Onalee Bennett was born July 16, 1939 to Lloyd and Leone Earnest in Mondamin, IA. She was the oldest of 6 children and grew up on a farm west of Missouri Valley, IA. She helped take care of her siblings and helped with the farm. Jeanette met the love of her life John Elliott Bennett and they were married February 14, 1958. That fall along came Johnny and 11 months later came Shelly. Heather followed 16 years later. Jeanette enjoyed bowling and running around for softball with her children in the early years. She also enjoyed dancing. She worked for Northwestern Bell phone company for a couple years and worked at JC Penney for 10 years. She and John opened their own upholstery shop which later became AJ Upholstery and was their joy for many years. Later in life, Jeanette enjoyed being the Mayor of Malmo, working at Rezac Café, tending her flowers, gardening, shopping and spending time with the family, and talking with near and dear friends. She loved her family very much.

Jeanette is survived by her son John Bennet and wife Lori of Mead, daughter Shelly Schmidt Bennett of Wahoo, daughter Heather Malina and husband Robert of Weston; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; siblings Judy, Jerry, Peggy, Connie and Debbie; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Graveside Services will be at 11 am Saturday September 10 at Bethesda Cemetery in Malmo with a Celebration of Life following at 2525 County Road J in Weston. Memorials can be sent to Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home or to 2525 County Road J, Weston, NE 68070.
