James A. Everson, Sr. age 78 of Mead, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in Lincoln. He was born August 20, 1936 in Atlanta, MO to Howard Sr. and Lilly (Swenson) Everson. Jim worked at Bemis Bag Company in Omaha for 47 years as a pressman and fork lift mechanic. He retired in 2003. On August 23, 1957, Jim married Joyce Shaffar in Council Bluffs, IA. As a young couple, they enjoyed roller skating together and were avid bicyclists. They spent many happy times on camping trips with their children and on family vacations. Jim's favorite vacation was spent touring the eastern coast of the United States from Maine to Florida. He and Joyce were also members of the Nebraska Country Dancers for 11 years and became talented country line dancers. As a couple, Jim and Joyce often presented country dance programs at nursing homes where they attracted large audiences and delighted the residents with their dancing prowess. Jim and Joyce especially enjoyed dancing to the song "The Waltz of the Angels." Jim is survived by his wife Joyce Everson of Mead; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Barb Everson of Winthrop, MN; daughter Candy Everson of Omaha and her children Justin, Heather and Tiffany, and grandchildren Emma, Connor and Wyatt; brother and sister-in-law Howard Jr. and Eileen Everson of Hartselle AL; sister Rose Lengyel of Omaha; and niece Diedre Rubink of Council Bluffs, IA; He was preceded in death by an infant son; son James Jr.; parents Howard and Lilly; and brothers Charles and Bill. Memorials may be made to the family for a later designation. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Randy Everson, Jim Bonacci and Kerry Tweedy. Inurnment will be held later at the Morningside Cemetery in Mead.
