Jacqueline A Nielson

Jacqueline Ann Barr-Nielson was born on December 3rd, 1967, and passed away peacefully on October 29th, 2025, at the Josie Harper Hospice Home in Omaha, Ne at the age of 57 from her courageous fight with cancer.

Jacqueline was born in Omaha, Ne to Lonnie and Rita Barr. She attended Karen Western Elementary School and Ralston Middle and High School. Jackie married the late Rob Petersen in 1987 and had two children, Ashlie and Michael. Jackie moved to Michigan in 1993 where she attended college at Barker College of Muskegon and received an associate’s degree. Jackie moved back to Omaha in 1997. Jackie married Scott Nielson in 2004 and had twin boys, William and Tristan. Jackie had various jobs including Avaya, Saunders County Courthouse, caretaker for her father-in-law, and watching her granddaughter, Ellie. Jackie lived life by her faith in God.

Her grandchildren, Majer Meents and Ellie Petersen were her world. Jackie was known for her carrot cake, Italian roast, deviled eggs, and homemade chicken and noodle soup. She enjoyed trips to Michigan with her sisters, a good cup of coffee, Husker football, her Wednesday nights that were designated for grammie night, mushroom hunting, and anywhere her family was. She will be remembered as a great daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend.

Jackie is preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Barr, brother Tim Barr, granddaughter Sydney Petersen, mother-in-law Shirley Williams, and fathers-in-law Kirk Williams and Robert Nielson.

Jackie is survived by husband, Scott Nielson of Wahoo, Ne. Mother, Rita Barr of Omaha, Ne. Sisters Loni “Beth” Arehart of Omaha, Ne, Kate (Mike) Sullivan of Council Bluffs, IA, Virginia “Ginger” (Bill) Durham of Fremont, MI. Daughter Ashlie Petersen & significant other Grady Meents and son Majer of Hasting, Ne. Son Michael (Tess) Petersen and daughter Ellie of Wahoo, Ne. Son Tristan Nielson of Wahoo, Ne. Son William Nielson of Omaha, Ne. Nieces and nephews including Timmy (Mandi) Barr, Tommy Barr, Leland Barr, Amanda (Tom) Arehart, Loni Arehart, Jared Arehart, Brandon Arehart, Jordyn (Ben) Dush, Skylar Arehart, Matthew Arehart, Megan (Paul) Herman, Miranda (Stephanie) Durham, Sheila (James) O’Doherty, Shelby (Mike) Feldpausch, Chandler (Sam) Vacha, Jack Nielson, and many great nieces and nephews that she loved greatly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
