Jack Christensen, age 93 of Wahoo, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Wahoo. He was born May 31, 1925 to Holger and Metha (Pedersen) Christensen. Jack grew up in Stromsburg and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1943. The following September he enlisted in the United States Army and served his final year at Fort Knox, KY where he was proud to say that not a single ounce of gold went missing under his watch. Jack then attended the University of Nebraska Pharmacy College and graduated in 1950 when he entered business with his brother, Dick, at Christensen Drug in Wahoo. Jack retired in 1992. On September 12, 1950, Jack married Suzanne Schulte in Lincoln. They shared the next 49 years together. He married Doris Ecklund Rood on March 11, 2007 in Wahoo. In 1968, Jack and Suzanne purchased one of the first cabins at Woodcliff and spent memorable times together there along with family and friends. They also enjoyed a yearly family ski trip to Winter Park, CO, and to Minnesota to fish. Jack was a long-time member of Hilltop Country Club where he golfed and played Poker. In 2001, Jack began spending the winter months in the sunshine and warmth of Arizona. He looked forward to the time he spent in Arizona and continued that tradition with Doris until last year. He is survived by wife Doris Rood, Wahoo; son Kurt (Linda) Christensen, Bridgeport, NE, daughters Terri (Don) Bailey, Fort Smith, AR, Tracy (Bryan) Kindler, Fremont, NE, Joie (Ed) White, Gilbert, AZ; step-son David Rood, Wahoo; step-daughter Debra (Lee) Plybon; sister-in-law Nancy Edwards, Omaha; grandchildren Julie (Erick) Mann, Jami Nelson, Brooke Bailey, Alexis (Charles) Childers, Michael (Lindsey) Kindler, Hillary Kindler, Dane White, Eric White, Dawson White, Brett (Kari) Kindler, Alison (Brandon) Wesely, Melissa (Ryan Schaffer) Plybon, Hilary (Jered) Ryder; great-grandchildren Elijah, Adler, Nataleigh, Brinley, Zaven, Abram, Gracie, Ben, Kaylie, Brooklyn, Zane, Kaleb, Roman, Aliyah, Ezra, Logan, Wren, Henry; nieces Lisa Lever, Omaha, Linda (Mike) Dannehl, Bertrand, NE; nephew Bill (Karen) Edwards, Portland, OR; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Jack was preceded in death by wife Suzanne; grandson Shane Bailey; brothers Dick, Ken and Bob; friend Gen Detlof.
