Gloria J. Stroebel, age 67 of Wahoo, died December 20, 2024 in Wahoo. She was born September 6, 1957 in David City to Walter Barsell Sr. and Pansy (Poindexter) Barsell.
Gloria loved cooking and working in food service. Throughout her life she was employed by Region V Services and several fast-food restaurants. She especially enjoyed the customers she met while working at Subway in Wahoo. A very congenial person, Gloria always strove to please people. When not working she enjoyed painting, puzzles, and playing pitch and computer games. Watching movies was a special past time. Gloria was fond of repeatedly watching her favorites such as “Frosty the Snowman”, “Sister Act”, and “Penguins”. Every Spring Gloria looked forward to seeing the appearance of Pansies growing outside. They brought back memories of her mother.
She is survived by her children Levi (Anna) Stroebel, Matthew Stroebel, and Rebekah Allerheiligen; siblings Mary (Roger) Mills, Walter (Cathy) Barsell Jr., Douglas (Grace) Barsell, Donald Barsell, Karen (Jeff) Petersen; and 16 grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents Walter Sr. and Pansy, step-mother Bonnie Barsell, siblings Rand Barsell, Pamela Pospisil, David Barsell, and granddaughter Ashlee Stroebel.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Mead Covenant Church - Encounter Life Ministries in Mead. Private interment will be at David City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
