On August 24, 2024, Glenn Arden Nelson broke the surly bonds of Earth and went Home to eternal peace in Heaven. Glenn was born on January 12,1943 to Roland and Phyllis (TePoel) Nelson in Omaha, Nebraska. Glenn was the firstborn of the family who was joined by his sister Janet and his brother Roger.
Glenn was a graduate of Mead Public Schools. He furthered his education at Luther Junior College and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Glenn returned home to be the fourth-generation farmer on the family farm north of Mead.
Glenn married Margie Britton on July 22, 1967. The family farm became their home for their life together. To this union, a daughter Traci and son Eric were born.
Glenn was a farmer through and through and “bled” green for his John Deere’s. The loyalty to his alma mater also gave him the ability to “bleed” red for his Cornhuskers. This did not overshadow the love and pride that Glenn felt for his family. The crowning touches to Glenn’s family were his grandchildren, Trevor and Dana. Glenn loved time spent with family and friends at the kitchen table, enjoying fellowship and a homemade meal together…it was even better for Glenn if there happened to be pie!
Glenn felt a deep calling to give back to his church and community. Many hours were willingly spent in community leadership roles which filled Glenn’s time, along with his roles to his family and the farm. Glenn spent 6 years in the Nebraska National Guard serving his country.
Those who greeted Glenn in Heaven were his parents and grandparents. Those left to live life without Glenn are his wife Margie, daughter Traci (Dean) Fahrenholz, son Eric and friend Lalah Landers, grandson Trevor (Hannah) Fahrenholz, granddaughter Dana (Jacob) Walters - who soon will be adding a baby to the family tree, sister Janet (Leroy) Ostranksy, brother Roger (Jody) Nelson, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
