Georgia E. (Ruzicka) Pestal, age 90 of Wahoo, passed away September 1, 2017 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo, Nebraska. She was born December 3, 1926 on the family farm west of Weston, Nebraska to Stanley and Anna (Shultz) Ruzicka. She was the youngest of four children. Georgia attended rural School District #113 and graduated from Weston High School in 1944. She then attended Midland College in Fremont where she earned her teaching certificate and taught in country schools for four years. On December 19, 1948, Georgia married Raymond D. Pestal at the Czech Presbyterian Church. They had one son, Daniel, who their lives revolved around. They were involved in all aspects of Dan's life. They were so proud of all his accomplishments especially at those times when life was challenging with Dan's many health issues. Georgia and Ray were members of the Czech Presbyterian Church and the Hilltop Mariners. Georgia served in the Czech Ladies Aid and was also a Sunday School teacher and a church Elder. Georgia was always ready to help wherever needed. Georgia and Ray raised a passel of hogs, some cattle and many varieties of fowl, exotic and otherwise, on their farm by Weston. They loved trees, plants and flowers of all kinds. Their yard was always beautiful, and you could feel their love in these surroundings. In addition to her flowers, Georgia had a special place in her heart for butterflies. She enjoyed quilting and helped the ladies of the church sew many quilts which they donated to missions. She and Ray enjoyed collecting antiques and beautiful glassware and figurines. Georgia loved her Lord and her family and friends. All her family, and many friends, were always lovingly welcome and entertained on many special events and holidays at her home. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; son Daniel; parents Stanley and Anna Ruzicka; father-in-law and mother-in-law Anton and Mary Pestal; brothers Laddie and Emil; brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Ruth Pestal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Keith Colwill; brother-in-law Joe Fortik.
