Frank L. Fittro, age 87 of Weston, died Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Wahoo. He was born in rural Decatur, Nebraska on July 10, 1928 to Roy and Della (Valder) Fittro. Frank enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 and met Lenora Snow while he was stationed in Arkansas. They were married on January 20, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Benton, Arkansas. Frank's military service ended in 1954, and he and Lenora returned to Nebraska to make their home together. For the first two years, Frank farmed. He then attended community college in Milford where he learned the auto repair trade. Frank owned and operated an auto repair shop in Lyons, Nebraska for many years. After selling the shop, he worked in Lincoln until his retirement. Frank was a member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department from June 1974 to August of 1993, and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Wahoo. He also was a member of the Weston American Legion Post #308 and VFW Post #4502 in Wahoo. Frank volunteered with the Foodnet program. Cats held a special place in Frank's heart and no stray cat remained homeless and alone after meeting Frank. He enjoyed fishing, was known for the humorous stories and jokes that he loved to tell, and he liked horses often recalling how he rode his horse to school during his high school years. But despite all these things that gave him pleasure, it was his 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who brought an unmatched joy to Frank's life and a smile to his face. He is survived by his wife Lenora Fittro of Weston; sons Dan (Carol) Fittro of Junction City, Kansas, John (Charlotte) Fittro of Weston, Micheal Fittro of Weston, and Wayne (Vicky) Fittro of Weston; grandchildren Shawn (Ryan) Roberts, Rachael (Kevin) Kennedy, Eric Fittro, Shane (Charlee) Burns, Nicole (Troy) Clay, Steven Tiedeman, Dylan Fittro, Logan Fittro, Braydon Fittro, Rick Fittro, and Dale Fittro; and 14 great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson. Memorials may be made to the Fittro family for a later designation.
