Elaine Darlene Johnson Eberle, age 98, originally from Wahoo, died Dec. 17, 2020 in Dallas, Texas where she had resided since August 2018. Born Aug. 14, 1922 near Wahoo, to Roy and Dorothy (Brodahl) Benson. Elaine had 2 siblings, Robert Benson and Jean Benson Vircks. Elaine spent most of her life in Nebraska. She graduated from Mead High School and attended Hastings College. She married Donald Johnson in San Diego California in 1942, and lived and worked in San Diego at SJ Wines Coffee Company as a bookkeeper. She and Donald returned to Nebraska where he farmed land in Saunders County, along with some other positions, until he passed away in 1975. Elaine worked at Wahoo Savings and Loan and First Federal Savings Bank in Wahoo. She met and married John Eberle. After John passed away, she sold the farm house and moved to Omaha where she continued to play cards, golf, go dancing and spend time with friends. Later she sold her townhome in Omaha and moved to Dallas, Texas near Denice. In 2011 Elaine and Denice moved to Roswell, Georgia to be closer to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2018 Elaine returned to Dallas with Denice and spent her last few years in nursing care facilities until she passed away in December 2020. Elaine was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo, she served as secretary of the Sunday school and a Deacon at the church. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 82. Elaine is survived by her daughters Kaye Wadsworth (John), Cheryl Kirk (Scott), and Denice Wood. Grandchildren Stacey Geilert (Phil), Chris Wood (Sara), Allicyn Reed (Michael), Amber Specketer (Lance), Ashley Holbrook (Chapman), Jason Rockwell, Adam Kirk (Jennifer), Nancy Kirk, several nieces and nephews. She was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Rockwell. Elaine will be laid to rest next to Donald Johnson in Sunrise Cemetery. There will be a memorial service and celebration of life on Saturday, April 17, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo.
