Dwight V. Heiser

Dwight V. Heiser, age 60 of Wahoo, died Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his home in Wahoo. He was born August 29, 1955 in Wahoo to Vernon and Ruth (Anderson) Heiser. Dwight grew up in Wahoo and graduated from Wahoo High School. Dwight tackled many tasks with determination and enjoyed hobby projects. He was a 15 year member of the Wahoo Car Club and had fond memories of his first car – a 1967 Ford Mustang. When he was not involved with cars, Dwight was busy collecting tractors and showing his favorite ones in area parades and antique tractor pulls. Dwight had an interest in an eclectic blend of musical styles which ranged from Chicago to REO Speedwagon and Herb Alpert. He was a consummate listener of many musical genres. His Fourth of July fireworks events had no budget. He obsessed over tools and work related paperwork, and his yard did not lack its abundant share of loving care. Even his vocabulary was well tended to. Dwight loved to inject into conversation the large words he knew so well, no doubt in part to his almost daily connection to crossword puzzles. He divided his sports enthusiasm between the Huskers, the Cubs, and the Yankees, and was a frequent spectator at his grandson Aaron's sporting events. Dwight and granddaughter Kyra "went to the dark side" – eating chocolate ice cream – every Friday night. Dwight had a strong connection to the past – an almost pioneer spirit – and spoke fondly of the life and times of his great-grandfather Anderson. Family was important to Dwight who called his children daily just to check in. He always ended the conversation with the simple word "out" – a tribute to his communication style during his many years as a truck driver for M. E. Collins Construction. Dwight also enjoyed a friendly game of Pitch as well as horseshoes, and the conversations that went along with the friendly competition. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and his uncle Ken Hagelstein. Dwight is survived by his mother Ruth Heister of Wahoo; daughter and son-in-law Beth and Dave Vech of Malmo; son and daughter-in-law David and Kate Heiser of Wahoo; grandchildren Aaron and Kyra Hays of Malmo; siblings Carla Kraus of Wahoo, Dennis (Kim) Heiser of Weston, Don (Roxanne) Heiser of Weston, Cathy (Ron) Snitily of Prague, Dwaine Heiser of Wahoo; and many nieces and nephews. Dwight's Casket Bearers will be members of his loving family: David Heiser, Dave Vech, Keith Pokorny, Tyler Micek, Don Heiser and Dennis Heiser. Honorary Casket Bearers are Dwaine Heiser, Reuben "Pete" Petrzelka, and Rick Dorothy. Memorials in Dwight's name may be given to his family for a later designation.
