Dwaine E. Heiser, age 59 of Wahoo, died Saturday June 26, 2021 in Omaha. He was born August 28, 1961 in Omaha to Vernon and Ruth (Anderson) Heiser. Dwaine grew up on a farm near Swedeburg. In 1970, the family moved to Wahoo where he graduated mid-term from high school in 1979. As a teenager, he worked at the Husky Station and at the Wahoo Livestock Sales Barn. While there, he “adopted” two runt piglets which he brought home to raise as pets. Dwaine studied history, acquiring facts from books, television, the internet, and other sources until he had developed an encyclopedic knowledge of history. His interests were primarily focused on wartime and spanned both World Wars, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War and all conflicts which followed. He loved to share his knowledge and teach others to be well versed in historical events, especially the new generations of his family. Dwaine attended nearly every Veteran’s event at the Saunders County Veteran’s Memorial and elsewhere in the community. He also enjoyed Presidential history and politics. Dwaine taught himself to repair carburetors and magnetos and became an expert much sought after for his skill and expertise, which he was always more than willing to share. Dwaine developed a passion for hot rods and, through the years owned several of them such as Ford Galaxy, Ford Fairlane, and Dodge Chargers. He always stayed busy working on his own and other people’s cars. Tractors were another of Dwaine’s passions. He enjoyed attending events at Camp Creek Threshers and Tractor Pulls around Saunders County. He was a member of the Saunders County Auto Club. Dwaine is survived by his mother Ruth Heiser of Wahoo; siblings Carla Kraus of Wahoo, Dennis (Kim) Heiser of Weston, Don (Roxanne) Heiser of Weston, Cathy (Ron) Snitily of Prague; uncle Glenn Anderson of Belvedere, NE; 11 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Heiser; brother Dwight Heiser; grandparents Carl and Hilda Heiser and Gifford and Evelyn Anderson; uncle and aunt Kenneth and Delores Hagelstein. Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation is set for 5-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in rural Swedeburg. Memorials may be given to the Saunders County Veterans Memorial. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
