Duane H. Thoms

Duane H. Thoms, age 80 of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at his home. He was born December 18, 1934 at Ithaca, NE to Harry and Susie (Schmidt) Thoms. The family moved to the Memphis, NE area when Duane was 6 years old. He attended country school there and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1952. On May 16, 1958, he married LaVonne Wicht at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yutan. Duane farmed near Memphis and raised Black Angus cattle. He is survived by his wife LaVonne Thoms of Ashland; son Dale Thoms of Ashland; and brother Gary Thoms of Texas. Duane was preceded in death by his parents. Rev. Charles Smith will officiate. Casket Bearers will be Ivan Bergman, Ron Thoms, Robert Akers, Tim Hall, Michael Thomas, and Dustin Thoms. Memorials may be made to St. John's Church or Hollst Lawn Cemetery Association.
