Duane R. Fjellin

Duane R. Fjellin, age 83 of Wahoo, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 in Lincoln. He was born August 28, 1931 in Wahoo to David and Irene (Ericson) Fjellin. Duane was a lifelong farmer who grew crops and raised livestock. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On March 31, 1983, he married Delia May Schomberg in Fremont, NE. Dee passed away December 20, 2008. Duane was a member of Malmo American Legion Post #232 for more than 50 years, and was a lifelong member of Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo where he served as Church Treasurer for many years. He had also served as a board member of the Farm Bureau, School District #44, and Edensburg Lutheran Cemetery Association. Duane was also a longtime member of the Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association. He is survived by his step-daughter Marilyn (Bill) Kruger of Salmon, ID; step-grandson Jay Yorty of Wellington, CO; cousins Gayle Martinson of Wahoo, and Mike (Debbie) Barry of Weston; step-great-grandchildren Theron and Althea Yorty of Wellington, CO. Duane was preceded in death by his wife Dee Fjellin, and parents David and Irene Fjellin. Military Funeral Honors will be conducted by Malmo American Legion Post #232. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Casket Bearers will be Mike Barry, Cole Barry, Neal Barry, Randy Klein, Gayle Martinson, and Tom Konecky, Jr.
