Douglas L. Vanicek

Douglas L. Vanicek, age 58 of Columbus, died Thursday, January 9, 2025 in Omaha. He was born June 3, 1966 in Lincoln to Reynold and Beth (Dickey) Vanicek. Doug grew up in Wahoo and graduated from Wahoo High School. He worked many years as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife Kristina Williams of Columbus; children Michael Pitt, Cassandra Vanicek, and Josh Vanicek all of Green Bay, Wisconsin; step-children Sabrina Williams, Dakota Williams, Samantha Williams, and Marie Williams all of Schuyler, Nebraska; mother Beth Kellogg of Wahoo; brothers Jerome Vanicek of Wahoo and Ron Vanicek of Canton, South Dakota. Doug is preceded in death by his father Reynold Vanicek and step-father Jim Kellogg.

Visitation will be held 1-4 pm Saturday, January 18 at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.
