David A. “Simi” Simonini, age 73, of Wahoo, Nebraska, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was born June 25, 1952, in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Vincent and Esther (Cataldo) Simonini.

On May 4, 2002, David was united in marriage to Judy Kincheloe at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo, Nebraska.

Following his graduation from high school, Dave spent several years traveling across the country in a school bus he converted to a camper. He had a very adventurous soul. His journey eventually led him to Wahoo, where he chose to settle and make his home. While traveling in California, Dave learned the carpet trade, which became his lifelong profession. He established a long career in carpet, LVT, and vinyl flooring through Simonini’s Carpet Installation.

Dave had a wide range of interests. He enjoyed karaoke and playing his trombone. He was an enthusiastic sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Nebraska Cornhuskers. He had a deep love for animals—especially his dachshunds—and a special interest in eagles. Dave also enjoyed spending time at the casino, watching movies on the Hallmark Channel, and hosting gatherings at his home, including his well-known Fourth of July celebrations complete with fireworks. He loved to camp and fish and always had great stories to share with others.

Earlier in life, Dave owned and rode horses and was once featured in Nebraskaland Magazine when he was part of a cowboy trail ride through Nebraska with two of his great friends.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Simonini of Wahoo; his son, Jason (Bianca) Frazier of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts; stepdaughters, Michelle (Bernie) Baney of Cañon City, Colorado and Courtney (Taylor) Burns of Lincoln; siblings, Peter (Claire) Simonini of Bedford, Massachusetts, Vincent (Kelly) Simonini of Cassville, Wisconsin, and Kristin Simonini of Billerica, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Alicia Baney, Connor and McKenna Burns, and Taylin and Robbie Frazier; several nieces and nephews, cousins and tons of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Esther Simonini; and granddaughter Addelyn Baney.

His stories, vibrant presence, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
