Connie J. Helsing, age 74 of Wahoo, was born March 15, 1942 in Wahoo to Burdette and Neomi (Boyles) Helsing. She died April 2, 2016 in Lincoln. Connie grew up on her parent's farm where she developed a deep love for livestock, horses, and rodeo and worked milking cows at the University of Nebraska Agricultural and Research Development Center at Mead. She learned a love for the rodeo from her father and regularly attended events throughout the area. Connie also became involved in timing roping events and working in rodeo wherever needed. She continued her connection to her farm roots throughout her life and cared for her parents during their final years at home, on the farm. She was proud of the work she did feeding her animals, caring for her chickens, and doing chores on the farm with her faithful four-legged companion Rex at her side. She and Dolly, her Brahma cow, had a special relationship. Connie had a long career with insurance companies which began right after she graduated from high school when she went to work for Mutual of Omaha and later with the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in Chadron. Connie also worked for many years in the Memphis Post Office. She had a special place in her heart for children.
