Cecil "Jack" Tillman

Cecil Joseph "Jack" Tillman was born on March 8, 1929 in North Platte, NE and passed away on April 17, 2015 in Omaha. Jack was a life-long educator, coach and school administrator in Belleville, KS and Wahoo, NE. He met the love of his life, Colleen, in 1947 at Peru State College. They were married for over 64 years. He was a graduate of North Platte High School, Peru State College, and earned a Masters degree in Special Education and a Specialist in Educational Administration from the University of Nebraska. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jack & Fern Tillman, and brothers Roger & Chuck Tillman, of North Platte, NE. He is survived by his wife, his children Julee Katzman, Sam (Jeral) Tillman, Mindy (Cheryl) Sabatka, Chuck (Carol) Tillman, and 9 grandchildren Madeline (Caddy) Hendrix, Jacob (Alonit) Katzman, Molly Tillman, Joe (Amy) Sabatka, Mikki (Brent) Lund, Mackenzie (Jarod) Tillman, Jack Tillman, Clarissa Tillman & Luke Tillman. Jack wrote a weekly column called Our Town for the Wahoo Newspaper for over 20 years. Following retirement he served as aide to State Senator Curt Bromm in the Nebraska Legislature. He enjoyed golf, fishing, reading and entertaining his grandchildren with stories of the troll living in his backyard. Jack is a participant in the Anatomical Gift Program of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Memorials will be used to establish a scholarship fund at Peru State College.
