Carol L. Richmond

Carol Lee (Hartsook) Richmond slipped quietly and peacefully into the house of our Lord Monday, May 30, 2022. She was with her husband Raymond Richmond, with whom she shared 61 amazing years of joy and travel. She was 78. Carol was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa on October 26, 1943, to Curtis M. and Lillian “Babe” (Weyrauch) Hartsook. She and Ray were married in Omaha on March 28, 1961, and were joined on their journey by their daughter Julie and sons Phillip and Matthew, who share many memories of joy with her both at home and on vacations together. Carol traveled the country extensively, proudly visiting each of the 50 states, taking it all in with amazement and enjoyment. In her later years she found particular delight in regular visits with her Wahoo coffee group friends. Carol grew up as an equestrian who loved to run barrels, ride in parades, and enjoy pleasure riding. As a youngster and as a young adult, she enjoyed spending time at the horse track watching her parent’s horses run. She was a tap dancer as a teen and loved music, especially classic country. She was a voracious reader…of everything, it seemed…and took a particular interest in Civil War history. Carol is survived by her husband, Ray of Wahoo; daughter Julie Douglas of Valley, sons Phil Richmond of Lincoln and Matt (Krista) Richmond of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren Ian, Hunter, Sydney and Allison Richmond; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was loved and will be missed by all. Her parents, Curt and Babe Hartsook, and brother Harvey Hartsook preceded her in death. Visitation with light refreshments Friday 12 - 2 pm at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation - Nebraska Chapter.
