Friends of Bernice are invited to join her family for a luncheon at noon on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo.


Bernice A. Wiese, age 103 of Wahoo, died Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in Wahoo. She was born July 7, 1920 in Wahoo to William and Elise (Juds) Otto. On June 4, 1941, she married Martin Schwenck at her parent’s home in Ashland. Later, on January 3, 1957, Bernice was united in marriage to Raymond Wiese in Ithaca. For 50 years, Bernice was owner and operator of Bernice’s Beauty Shoppe in Wahoo.


An avid bowler in Simanek’s bowling league, Bernice helped her team qualify for several national bowling tournaments. She was also a very active life member of the Wahoo VFW Post #4502 Ladies Auxiliary and proudly served as Nebraska State President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in 1988-89. Bernice was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wahoo.


Bernice is survived by her daughters Donna Johnson of Lincoln and Vonnie (Norman) Klassen of Bingham Lake, MN; sister Virginia Johnson of Wakefield, NE; 5 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Martin Schwenck and Raymond Wiese; son Gayle Schwenck; brothers Donald Otto, Ralph Otto, Harold Otto; granddaughter Linda Johnson; and son-in-law Jim Johnson.
