Avery Tobias Leroy Hays, beloved son of Kelsy Luers and Tyler Hays, was born on January 29, 2025, and passed unexpectedly in his sleep on September 5, 2025, at 7 months and 7 days old.
In his short time on earth, Avery filled the hearts of those around him with immeasurable love and joy. He had a special way of knowing who needed him most—and who needed to be holding him. Always happy and full of life, Avery made his presence known with his strong, vocal spirit and delighted everyone with his bright eyes and precious smiles.
Avery loved being with his sister, Harley Mae, and could often be found watching her every move with admiration. He enjoyed exploring new foods, though he made it very clear that bananas were not his favorite. With curious little hands, he interacted with everything around him and especially loved exploring his dad’s beard. He found comfort in the warmth of the porch swing outside. Avery’s gentle yet lively nature brought warmth and light to all who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished.
He is deeply loved by his parents, Tyler and Kelsy; sister, Harley Mae; grandparents, Dan and Mindy Hays and Daryl and Connie Luers; aunts and uncles, Elijah (Emilie) Hays and Katie (Daniel) Frieden; cousins, Luke, Robin, and Jesse Frieden; and special family friends Beccah and Jesse Menter, along with their children Elliot, Miyah, and Simeon. Avery is welcomed into heaven by his great-grandparents Cecil and Joyce Burnside, Leroy and Helen Luers, Fairy Belle “Toby” Meyer, and cousin Wesley Luers.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, September 12 at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home.
Although Avery’s time here was brief, the love he gave and received will last forever. He will always be remembered for his happy spirit, curious nature, and the joy he brought into every moment.
