Arthur G. Gerdts

Arthur G. Gerdts, 88 of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Wahoo, NE entered into our Lord's care January 29, 2019. He was born February 2, 1930 in Waverly, NE to Arthur H. & Esther (Peterson) Gerdts. He was fondly known as Junior or Art to his family and friends of that era. The family moved to Wahoo in 1944 and Junior graduated from Wahoo High School in 1948. On December 28, 1951 he married Keryl Mae Pearson in Grace Lutheran Church near the Pearson family farm. In 1982, Keryl entered into our Lord's care. Art was married again, in 1987, to Jerrie Dring of Lincoln. He enjoyed 30 plus loving years with each of them. His loves were many and among them were raising 5 children, working at the shop, fishing, traveling, dancing, golfing, living in Florida, and cabin life here in Nebraska. Art is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a past Master of Wahoo Lodge #59 A.F. & A.M, and a lifetime member of the Wahoo American Legion Post #82. He served our country in the Air Force as a welder, serving in Maine and Louisiana. He took over the family business sometime in the late 1950's and retired some 40 years later. Art was a member of many clubs and boards during his life in Wahoo. Art is survived by his loving wife Jerrie Gerdts of Palm Harbor FL; sisters Marilyn Manske of Greenwood, NE, and Patricia Mingle of Garland, TX; children Steve (Cindy) Gerdts of Wahoo NE, Marla Loring of Schertz, TX, Terri Gagnier of Omaha, Tammi Goedeken of Bellevue NE, and Randy Gerdts of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Ryan (Lori) Gerdts , Laura (Jared) Samuelson, Elizabeth Loring, Renee (Tyler) Zunker, Jessica Goedeken, and Wesely Goedeken; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Celebration of Art's Life will be held at 2:00pm April 9th, 2019 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo, NE.
