Mark William Kemsley, beloved husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, entered into eternal rest on March 10, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. He passed peacefully, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.
Born on July 30, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, Mark was the son of the late George and Grace Kemsley. A man of quiet strength, integrity, and purpose, he graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing. His professional journey led him to A.C. Nielsen in Ohio, where his talent and dedication were quickly recognized. He was selected to lead a pioneering project identifying UPC codes at the company’s Northbrook, Illinois headquarters.
It was there, on the very first day of this endeavor, that Mark met Debbie Peterson of Malmo, Nebraska—his future wife and lifelong companion. Their hearts aligned, and they were united in marriage on September 18, 1982, at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo. Together they made their home in Palatine, Illinois, where they were blessed with twin sons, Ryan and Brett, who became the center of their world.
Mark was a man of deep commitment—to his family, his work, and his principles. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially time spent with those he loved most. His quiet wisdom, warm humor, and steadfast love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Debbie; his sons Ryan and Brett (Kelly); and his treasured grandchildren, Emeri Maverick and Braylyn Laurel. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings George (Sandra) Kemsley, Carol (the late Robert) Wyskowski, David (Anita) Kemsley, and Joan (Jon) Laskowski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mark also leaves behind his dear mother-in-law Dorothy Peterson; sister-in-law Delayne Peterson-Hergott (the late Kevin Hergott); and brother-in-law Jon Peterson.
Mark's life was a blessing to all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and quiet strength will forever be cherished.
